STARFLEET STATIONS
Outpost Hope 1 - OH1
Outpost Hope One stood at the gateway to one of the most extraordinary regions ever explored in Star Trek: Borderlands: the Hope One Dyson Sphere, a vast artificial structure surrounding a white dwarf star near the Gerosh Wormhole, which connected the Alpha and Delta Quadrants. Much like Deep Space Nine guarded the entrance to the Bajoran Wormhole, Hope One served as the primary point of access to the Sphere. Its ancient systems prevented normal communications between the interior and the outside universe, but known hailing protocols could open its immense doors and allow starships to enter. Beyond them lay an interior surface equivalent to millions of worlds, so enormous that its geography had to be approached on a planetary scale. Entire regions of forests, mountains, deserts, oceans, and unexplored wilderness separated settlements and civilizations, leaving an almost limitless frontier for exploration.
Among the Sphere's inhabitants were the Johvan and Kharians, former subjects and overseers attempting to build an uneasy peace after liberation, as well as the wandering Gatrubbian people, who had finally found a place they could call home. The DFA also established an expeditionary colony within the Sphere, while countless other civilizations and mysteries remained scattered across its vast interior. At the entrance, Sentinel Station became a busy center of commerce, diplomacy, exploration, and opportunity, while independent vessels such as the privately operated cargo ship SS Axel supported Federation activities while pursuing missions of their own. Together, the station, the Sphere, and its inhabitants made Outpost Hope One a setting where the known galaxy ended at the doorway and an almost unimaginable world began beyond it.
Hope was only the beginning. Beyond the doors lay millions of worlds waiting to be discovered.

Starbase Phoenix
"On the edges of known space, a fire burns to light the way..."
The furthest out of all Federation Starbases in the Delta Quadrant, Starbase Phoenix was a boomtown on the edge of explored space. Always abustle of activity, SBPX was a home for soldiers, scientists, merchants and anyone looking foradventure (or escaping from it). And there was always room for more.

DFA PLANETs
Devu II
Devu II was one of the increasingly important worlds of the Delta Quadrant, known both for its abundant mineral resources and its growing political influence. Its rich deposits made the planet economically valuable, attracting commerce, industry, and outside interests while helping transform Devu II into more than a remote frontier world. As its wealth and influence grew, so did its importance in the political landscape surrounding the Neutral Zone.
Together with neighboring Devu I, the planet lay beneath the protection and influence of Starbase Horizon II, placing it near one of the region's major centers of diplomacy, trade, and Federation activity. Its strategic position, natural resources, and increasing political power made Devu II an important part of the Horizon sector and a natural setting for stories involving commerce, diplomacy, competing interests, and the changing balance of power in the Delta Quadrant.
On Devu II, wealth beneath the ground helped shape power among the stars.

IKS Bortas
IKS BortaS offered players the chance to experience Star Trek: Borderlands from a distinctly Klingon perspective. Rather than serving aboard a Federation or allied vessel, its crew lived by the traditions of the Klingon Empire, where courage, loyalty, honor, and strength were not abstract ideals but expectations woven into everyday life. Those who joined the BortaS were challenged to prove themselves worthy of standing beside fellow warriors and facing whatever enemies, dangers, or opportunities for glory awaited them.
The simulation embraced the dramatic spirit of Klingon culture and gave players the opportunity to explore characters shaped by duty, personal honor, rivalry, family, and the warrior tradition. Unfortunately, real-life demands eventually drew several players away and the IKS BortaS was retired from active service. Its legacy remains part of Borderlands history, however, and Klingon characters continue to be welcome throughout the game's other Duty Stations.
Only the bravest and most honorable warriors were worthy of the BortaS. Qapla'!

SS Axel
SS Axel offered a very different way to experience the Star Trek: Borderlands universe. Instead of serving aboard a Starfleet vessel, players became part of the crew of an independently operated civilian ship where regulations, ranks, and Federation procedures did not always determine what happened next. The Axel carried cargo, transported passengers, supported settlements and stations, explored unfamiliar regions, and occasionally found itself in situations where survival depended more on ingenuity, loyalty, and a willingness to bend the rules than on any Starfleet manual.
Operating primarily between the Hope One Dyson Sphere and the trading world of Setlin, the Axel traveled through a region filled with rival powers, remote colonies, strange civilizations, dangerous worlds, and opportunities for those willing to take the risk. Over the years, its stories expanded beyond the ship itself into what became known as the Axel Microverse, a collection of characters, locations, vessels, organizations, and interconnected adventures created by its players. The result was a corner of Borderlands with a character all its own: part freighter story, part frontier adventure, and always proudly independent.
The rules of Starfleet were never our rules. We were independent. We were free.

Probe 815
Probe 815 was one of the most unusual simulations ever created within Star Trek Borderlands and, quite possibly, one of the few RPGs dedicated entirely to experiencing life within the Borg Collective. Rather than portraying Starfleet officers, independent explorers, or even traditional antagonists, players assumed the roles of assimilated drones aboard a Borg probe. Individuality was surrendered to the Hive Mind as characters carried out commands through Borg subroutines, adapted to new situations, and contributed their biological and technological distinctiveness to the Collective.
"We are the Borg. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile."
